Dr Ania Capaldo
Existential Psychotherapist | Counselling Psychologist | EMDR Therapist
Ania is a qualified Counselling Psychologist and an accredited Existential Psychotherapist.
She completed her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy (DCPsych), focusing on the experience of witnessing the death of someone close — exploring how such moments shape identity, relationships, and one’s sense of being in the world. Her work highlights the often overlooked, deeply human aspects of experience, and how meaning emerges in the midst of them.
In her practice, Ania works with individuals and couples, supporting people through:
- Anxiety and overwhelm
- Loss, grief, and bereavement
- Trauma and emotionally difficult experiences
- Relationship challenges
- Questions of identity, direction, and meaning
She has a particular interest in moments of transition - when something shifts, ends, or no longer holds in the same way, and new ways of being begin to emerge.
Ania invites her clients to explore what feels difficult, uncertain, or unresolved, within a grounded and relational therapeutic space.
Her way of working is attentive and collaborative. Rather than applying techniques, she meets her clients where they are - staying close to what is unfolding and allowing understanding to emerge from there. Therapy becomes a shared exploration, shaped by each person's pace and what feels most important. There is space not only to reflect, but also to stay with what is felt, even when it is not yet clear or easy to put into words.
Ania’s work is grounded in a sensitivity to the complexity of human experience. She pays attention not only to what is said, but also to what is felt, avoided, or hard to articulate. She welcomes the full range of human experience, including questions of meaning and spirituality, and what it is to live a life that feels truly one’s own.
Alongside her clinical work, Ania teaches at the Existential Academy and the NSPC, contributing to the development of future practitioners.
