Ruth Millman
I have been supporting autistic individuals for over 15 years. I started managing day and outreach adult services as part of the National Autistic Society, and I am currently director of a Community Interest Company providing autism specific post-diagnostic support for autistic adults and families and carers. I has also worked within NHS primary mental health care IAPT services for over 4 years, with a particular interest in supporting autistic individuals and those with learning disabilities access mainstream care. I have post graduate qualifications in Asperger’s Syndrome and Low Intensity Psychological Interventions, and I am currently completing a Counselling Psychology doctorate.
The main focus of my work for over 15 years has been providing specialist coaching and psycho-education for autistic adults, and their families and partners, including couples and family sessions. This has included short term work around changes and transitions, such as moving to university, employment, home, as well as long term work support people for many years.
I run several groups and workshops across the south east for autistic individuals. In addition to directly supporting autistic individuals I have taught and trained professionals in autism awareness, teaching mental health students at universities, running training sessions for the police and social services and other NHS facilities. I also am regularly involved in leading workshops for parents and partners of autistic adults.
